We are so excited that spring is here! And #TeamMLE isn’t wasting any time getting their horses out to competitions!
At the beginning of March, the #MLEhunters were still down south in Ocala, FL, for the Ocala Winter Finals @ HITS Post Time Farm and the Ocala Winter Spectacular X @ World Equestrian Center. At the Ocala Winter Finals, Mary Lisa Leffler of Rolling Acres Show Stables and Chime were Champions in the Green/High-Performance Conformation Hunters, and Mary Lisa also earned a Reserve Champion title in the 3’ Hunters with Mila Leiberman’s Deal Me In. Ashley Worthington, also of Rolling Acres Show Stables, was Champion in the 2’9” Hunters with Aspen Collins’s CR Soñador. At the Ocala Winter Spectacular, Brett Shear-Hyman of Penny Leigh LLC finished 8th in the $15,000 USHJA 3’ National Hunter Derby on Katie Chan’s Fan Favorite.
That same weekend at the Bouckaert Equestrian International and Horse Trials in Fairburn, GA, #MLEeventer Dani Sussman finished in the top 15 with RR Simple, owned by the RR Simple Syndicate, in the CCI 2*. Closer to home at the Southern Pines Horse Trials in Raeford, NC, Courtney Waskiewicz of Defying Gravity Eventing came in 1st and 2nd in Preliminary Rider with Krysta Paradis’s Where’s My Tail and sale horse Hand Rail, respectively. Brittany Hebets-Miller of Hebets Miller Eventing rode Katrina Geier’s A Proper Villain to a 3rd place finish in Open Beginner Novice.
In mid-March, the #MLEhunters were back at it at the Ocala Winter Celebration @ HITS Post Time Farm. Mary Lisa Leffler brought home another championship in the Green/High-Performance Conformation Hunters with Chime, secured another championship with Gentleman Jack in the 1.30m Jumpers, and finished 2nd in the $2,500 Adequan Open Welcome with Zaza Z.
At Hunt Club Farms Start Horse Trials in Berryville, VA, Jacyln Burke of Hablyn Hills Equestrian finished in the top ten with her young horse Casino Kid in Training and placed 2nd in Novice/Training with her own Adara. At the Carolina International CCI and Horse Trials, Kim Severson of Kim Severson Eventing won Advanced aboard Roz and Bill Johnson’s Cooley Corraghy Diamond. MLE Intern Megan Hopkins rode her own Altaskin Jack to a top ten finish in the CCI 2*.
This past weekend, Kelley Williams of A Bit Better Farm took her own Liluokalani out for the first time this season at the MDHT Highland Starter Horse Trials #1 and finished inside the top ten!
